Five At-home Fitness Tips When Social Distancing

At Infinite Energy, we put a huge emphasis on the health and wellness of our employees, even during unprecedented times like these. In fact, the benefits of exercise are needed now more than ever.

A few minutes of exercise each day will release mood-boosting endorphins in your brain and help with stress relief. And it’s a great way to get some alone time. We’re lucky to have a full-time fitness and wellness coordinator here, so we thought we’d share a few of his tips that have helped us stay fit and healthy while social distancing at home.

1. Get Outside

This may feel like a no-brainer, but whether you’re getting out for a bike ride, jog or walk around the block, it’s important to step out from behind the walls of your home. Changing your scenery and breathing the fresh air may offer a positive change in your mood and wellbeing.

2. Find a Virtual Accountabili-buddy

Since we can’t work out together in person, your options for fitness friends are now multiplied. Schedule workout Facetimes, Zoom calls or even a text to check in and motivate each other.

3. Download an App

There are dozens of apps available that offer free or low-cost, on-demand workouts and coaching that involve little to no equipment. Some options we like are Peloton, Tone It Up and BeachBody. YouTube is also a great resource for thousands of exercise and yoga videos that are completely free of charge.

4. Get Back to the Basics

You don’t always need gym equipment to break a sweat. Push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, squats, sprints and jumping jacks require no equipment and will strengthen your muscles and heart.

5. Keep Your Diet Lean and Clean

Restricted access to restaurants and dining out has required more cooking at home, meal planning and efficient grocery use. Use this to your advantage by planning healthy recipes for you and your family.
