Biggest Losers Start Year as Biggest Winners

About half of the 67 competitors in Infinite Energy’s 2016 Biggest Loser competition were able to complete the six-month weight loss program last year. The top five competitors were recognized for their efforts just before the start of the New Year.

Employee James V., who lost more than 90 pounds (32 percent of his body weight), was this year’s biggest loser.

“It feels incredible, and it has truly changed my life,” James said. “I have more life to give to my wife, my family and to others.”

James, who was also awarded $3,000 for the first place victory, said things started to get easier during the competition as his new diet and exercise habits became routine.

“My goal was to change my lifestyle and a complete turnaround of how I live my life,” James said.

Infinite Energy Wellness and Fitness Coordinator Jason L., who oversees the competitors with dietary and exercise advice and through monthly weigh-ins, said the company has been holding the contest for six years as a way to encourage healthy lifestyles.

”We want to see our employees get healthy and well,” he said, explaining that weight loss can improve productivity at work and cut down on doctor visits.

Logan D., who lost 77 pounds and got $1,000 for second place, agrees.

“It allows us to be motivated and focused on maintaining a balance of proper nutrition and activity,” he said. “It also increases our overall health when done correctly and reduces the time out of work due to illness.”

Kelsey D., Logan’s wife and co-worker, was awarded $500 for third place. She lost 45 pounds, but said she wants to keep going.

“The contest is a great thing! It helped motivate me to become a better me. I knew I needed to get healthy but being able to win a contest gave me a little more pep in my step.”
