Infinite Energy has teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, and we couldn’t be more excited about our new partnership with this amazing group! We recently toured their headquarters in Atlanta and were so impressed by their operations and warm and friendly staff. Their bright and open concept is the perfect environment for group activities, trainings and fun.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta was founded in 1960 and “for the sole purpose of enriching the lives of children and helping them achieve their full potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships,” as they state in their mission. This means pairing underserved children with reliable, respectable and strong role models in their community. These mentoring friendships help cultivate trust, empowerment and positivity for today’s youth.
That’s not all. This program has some pretty impressive statistics:
- The average length of a mentorship lasts a whopping 44 months. In 2016, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta had over 1,800 children paired with a mentor.
- Those enrolled in the program avoid the juvenile justice system 99% of the time.
- High school seniors enrolled in the program have a 97% on-time high school graduation rate, compared to that of all Georgia’s low-income students’ on-time graduation rate of 62.5%.
Bigs and Littles can be seen working on homework together, sharing a meal, or participating in an activity to give back to their community. Infinite Energy recently donated its suite at the Infinite Energy Center for Bigs and Littles to attend two Gladiator ice hockey games. And we can’t wait to welcome them back in April. We also sponsored their Mentorship to College program, where Littles are provided with workshops for college readiness, ACT prep and even college tours on different campuses around Georgia.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is such a staple to the community, and we are so honored to be able to assist such a great cause. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, click here to find out more.
